POJO’s (Sumner Brothers, LLC) was founded in November 2004 when we bought our first store at I-16 and Highway 301. We began our expansion when we purchased our second store in Sylvania in November 2007. In July 2008, our third store was built at Highway 80 and Burkhalter Road. Our fourth store at Country Club Road began operation in July 2016 and our fifth and most recent store, located on Hatch Parkway in North Baxley, was purchased and opened in October 2017.
Perry Sumner was a 1979 graduate of Calvary Baptist Day School and a 2000 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a BS in Marketing with emphasis in sales and sales management. He moved to Statesboro in 1993 and worked as an area sales manager for Derst Baking Company. He was in sales with Stubbs Oil Company from 2000-2008.
Connie Sumner was a 1980 graduate of Calvary Baptist Day School and a 1992 graduate of Savannah State University with a BS in Accounting. Connie has spent 21 years with Merrill Lynch.
Phil Sumner was a 1982 graduate of Benedictine Military School and attended Southern Polytechnic College. He was a Sales Manager with Derst Baking Company in Swainsboro and Statesboro. He became the Operating Partner of Sumner Brothers, LLC in 2004 and opened and operated our first store.
Hope Sumner was a 1984 graduate of Calvary Baptist Day School and a 1988 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a BS in Education. In 1995, she completed her Masters in Education from Georgia Southern University. She retired from the Bulloch County Board of Education in 2018 after working there for 30 years.
Michael Sumner joined our team in 2007.
At POJO’s, we sell Chevron and BP gasoline and diesel fuel. Inside our stores, we sell fried chicken, seafood, boiled peanuts, ice cold drinks and beer. We also sell fishing supplies, as well as tons of local products like B&G Honey, Corks Kettle Corn, Hortons Beef Jerky and Lee’s Cane Syrup.

It is our mission to provide the highest quality products in the petroleum and convenience store industry, at a fair price. We also strive to provide the most complete, and friendliest customer service to all of our many customers. As a family, we want to be a Godly example, displaying the highest ethical standards, and always giving honor and glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
